Data-Driven Urban Futures: AI and IoT-Enabled Smart City Governance for Sustainable Urban Resilience

As urban centers confront unprecedented challenges due to climate change, population surges, and infrastructure strain, the need for intelligent governance models becomes urgent. This paper explores how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) are transforming smart city governance, enabling data-driven decision-making to enhance sustainable urban resilience. By integrating real-time data analytics with adaptive urban systems, cities can anticipate risks, optimize services, and ensure inclusivity. A review of literature reveals the evolution of this interdisciplinary domain, setting the foundation for emerging AI-IoT governance frameworks. This paper also presents case-informed tables on smart governance strategies and resilience indicators, offering a blueprint for future policy and research.
